EMDR Nervous System Stabilization
My clients come to me seeking a holding space where they can process the traumatic moments of their lives.
But what does it actually mean to process an experience?
Often, we find ourselves in the middle of something overwhelming, carrying more emotion than we know how to hold.
Ideally, we are surrounded by people who help us find our ground through safety and connection.
Sadly, that support is often absent. When no one is there to hold us, we may bury the experience and the feelings surrounding it.
What is unprocessed does not simply disappear.
It can continue to stir beneath the surface, emerging through reenactments, symptoms, and relationship patterns we find ourselves caught in again and again.
My role is to safely and empathically help you uncover destructive patterns and, more importantly, access the old and recent wounds beneath them.
Together, we approach what was overwhelming in a way that feels safe enough to be experienced, understood, and laid to rest, so you can live a sovereign life. This is not easy. Trauma lives in the body and shows up in daily life and in the therapy room. I know this, and we will go at a pace that honors it, and works beyond just the mind to hold the heart, nervous system and your body.
I draw on psychoanalytic theory to understand the deeper roots of your experiences.
I use EMDR to support the processing of traumatic memories
When needed I incorporate DBT skills to help you navigate the challenges of everyday life as we continue doing the deeper long lasting work.
I also utilize Breathwork when needed as a way to soothe the nervous system, quiet the defenses, and access disowned parts.
I offer ketamine-assisted therapy to help create enough distance from traumatic experiences so that the guard can gently come down, making space for deeper access to tender and disowned parts.
